Dr. Barry Colbert is Assistant Professor of Policy & Strategic Management in the School of Business and Economics at
Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, and is Director of the CMA Centre for Responsible Organizations, an interdisciplinary
research center at Laurier focused on Business and Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. Barry holds degrees
in Economics and English Literature as well as an MBA from McMaster University and a PhD in Strategic Management from the
Schulich School of Business at York University, with a focus on Business and Sustainability.
Current research projects that Barry is directing at the CMA Centre for Responsible Organizations include an examination of the adoption of the UN Global Compact Principles for Responsible Management, a set of 10 internationally endorsed principles that member organizations use to direct their journey toward Socially Responsible Management.
Dr. Colbert brings extensive experience in group facilitation, stakeholder interviewing, focus group research, strategic HR system design, balanced scorecard design and implementation, and organization development work, including team and leadership development. Building on 20 years experience as a manager in Canadian business, Barry believes that good research is both methodologically rigorous, and at the same time accessible and useful to practicing managers.
